From a Marxist perspective, a distinction must exist between
impairment and disability. While accepting the existence of
impairment as a biological reality, and not denying the role of
sociocultural determinants that operate at the superstructural
level, it is important to recognize that the single most
significant determinant of disability is the organization of the
mode of production based on the maximization of profit.
We heighten this contradiction by force, declaring and denouncing
the able-bodied supremacy over the disabled and impaired as comrade
